Policies and Expectations
Students living in the residence halls are expected to abide by the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct Students are also required to follow the laws within the State of Florida, and the United States.
Students are expected to balance the rights of others and their needs for a safe, caring, learning community for all members. If a student's behavior is disruptive to others or the community, that student is expected to respond to requests from staff and fellow students. Living in the halls is a privilege with many resources to assist you in your academic pursuits here at ISSTA. The hall and campus staff expect you to be an engaged learned and respectful community member of the ISSTA community.
Should you have any question regarding the Rules of the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct, please see your guidance counselor or persons in administration. Again, the campus Help Desk is available 24 hours a day.
Educational Opportunities & Discrimination Policy
At the International School of Science, Technology, and the Arts, our administration, faculty, staff, and student body are all members of a powerful familial community. This campus in which we share opens its' doors to all members of the public, regardless of their faith. Students and staff should not face discrimination or harassment because of their religious beliefs, their distinctive religious dress, or their religious expression.
The Civil Rights Division's Educational Opportunities Section enforces Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964(link is external), which prohibits discrimination based on religion in public primary and secondary schools, as well as public colleges and universities. Subsection (a)(1) authorizes the Attorney General to bring suit in response to a written complaint by a parent that a child is being "deprived by a school board of the equal protection of the laws." Subsection (a)(2) permits the Attorney General to bring suit upon receiving a written complaint that a student has been "denied admission to or not permitted to continue in attendance at a public college by reason of race, color, religion, sex or national origin." The Attorney General has delegated this authority to the Civil Rights Division.
Although a predominantly privatized institution, all of ISSTA respects the aforementioned policies, and expects that each and every individual or group that sets their feet on the campus, sets forth with the understanding that any discrimination, all be it racial, religious, sexual orientation, age, or otherwise will NOT be tolerated in any way, shape, or form.
